'Tis the season for weddings! Now that I am in my 20's, I am receiving wedding invitations from new and old friends. I remember being young and attending wedding with my family, but now that I am older I am attending them with my boyfriend. There is so much planning involved and things I did not know. I am the oldest in my family so it is difficult for me to pick these things up unless I ask my parents or friends with older siblings. I have an upcoming wedding to attend at the beginning of July and although I am far from becoming a bride myself, I thought I would share this post to features some of my favorite styles of dresses to wear at these type of events, and some of the tips I have learned about what to wear or not wear to a wedding. Gbridal offers a large selections of beautiful dressing that are not just for weddings, but also for other special occasions such as proms, homecoming, and graduation. If you you are looking for a dress last minute, Gbridal is an online store to consider.
1. Do not try to outshine the bride. Weddings are all about the bride and groom. They have spent hundreds of days planning for this big event so let them take the stage. You don't need to stand out in a bright red puffy dress to look your best.
2. Avoid wearing the same color as the bride. You can always find out this information from the maid of honor or other friends you know that are attending the wedding. While you're at it, find out what the bridesmaids are wearing as well so you do not end up wearing the same So if the bride is wearing a white dress, find another color that prevents you from blending in with the bride.
3. Check the invitation details. When in doubt, always reread the invitation because it may have details regarding what to wear such as 'formal', 'semi-formal', 'black tie', or 'outdoor reception to follow'. This should give you an idea of what you need or do not need but it is always better to dress up than to dress down.
4. You are allowed to dress based on the season. During the winter, thick fabrics are great to keep you but do not come to the wedding wearing snow boots or any boots for that matter. Then comes spring, when colorful pastels and florals are trending but watch out if there's a chance for rain. The summer is when the weather get really warm and humid so stick to light-weight material but keep it appropriate, and although summer is all about white, try to steer away from that color or plan to wear a dress that has other bright colors other than white in its palette. During the fall, dark muted colors is perfectly fine but so are brighter earthy colors so feel free to mix it up. Generally, wearing open or close toed shoes is a safe bet unless specified.
