Social Distancing in Athleisure and Loungewear

We made it to April and I hope you all are still doing well and staying healthy.

Athleisure (also known as athletic leisure) is everywhere. I believe that the athleisure style in America has always been a trend but has become even bigger over the past few years. I often see people walk by in athletic attire (from sweat pants to leggings to sports bras) as if they are headed to the gym when in reality they are out just to get a cup of coffee then come back home. The athleisure style is casual and care-free. It is no surprise that we all end up dressing this way on a normal basis because it is comfortable and functional. Who knew that the clothes we used to only wear to the gym would become our every day uniform in or out of the house? I definitely did not. I used to avoid the trend because I loved dressing up but the style has grown on me and now I have become an athleisure fan.

I think one of the best things that has come about with athleisure is that anyone can catch onto the style. We all have a tendency to obtain a first impression of a person based on the way they dress but with athleisure making its way into our everyday wear, it makes it difficult to judge a book by its cover. I think this is great because it teaches people not to discriminate and make prejudice assumptions. So whether you make $40,000 or $400,000, people may never know when you are wearing athleisure.

I like to combine athleisure and loungewear in the same category although loungewear is different because it is more for wear at home. I think they can both sometimes be worn outdoors or indoors but that is just my opinion because technically you could dress in athleisure to workout in your home or if you are like lazy me, you could rush out to a store in loungewear as long as it is not inappropriate or revealing haha.
