SIXTY LES is a boutique hotel in the lowest east side of New York city. An artsy and sleek hotel in an indie-vibed district surrounded by galleries, nightlife, and music. Located within the hotel is the Tiki Tabu open during the evenings for some drinking and dancing, the Blue Ribbon Sushi Izakaya for those sushi cravings, and Blue Ribbon Beer Garden where you can sit back and relax or play a game of ping pong.
SIXTY LES is easily accessed by cab or subway with plenty of places to eat and drink nearby if you would rather go out than stay in the hotel. There is a Thai restaurant that is walking distance called Hi Thai and several bars all within less than half a mile radius. Originally, Dillon found and choose the location! We stayed here the day he proposed and had a lovely evening.
The look and ambiance is what caught our eye because it is super trendy. When we arrived, the reception desk was to our right and the elevators to the rooms were straight ahead. There was also a staircase behind the reception desk, which I believed led to one of the Blue Ribbon restaurants. The staff was young, welcoming, and immediately took our bags to the room. The elevators can be slightly confusing for those who do not know to use their card to access the floors because it was not very obvious at first and the receptionist did not mention it. However, we figured it out on our own.
Once we entered our room, we were happy to drop our things and give ourselves a break. The room was a decent size with black flooring, a flat screen television, a desk, the bed, and a lounge charge. We loved the modern feel of the bathroom and minimalist styling of the bed area with a large piece of artwork above the bed. My favorite was the floor-to-ceiling windows as I have a thing for them. The only downside was the bar on the fourth floor as we could see a section of it from our window (which we kept our privacy with the blinds) and hear the music through the walls. Otherwise, they great customer service. They helped hook up the room with champagne, chocolates, and roses. It was timed perfectly while we were out at a Broadway.
One of the signature features of SIXTY LES was their pool with an Andy Warhol's visage on the floor of the pool. It is a relaxing outdoor pool that offers cocktails and nibbles from Blue Robbin Sushi Izakaya. However, the pool was close during the time we wanted to check it out. I believe it was due to the weather because unfortunately it rained during our entire stay.
