Styling Thigh High Boots

Styling Thigh High Boots

Counting down the days until 2019. My family and I had a lovely Christmas together while enjoying good food and company. Like I mentioned in my previous post, for Christmas Eve we did end up spending it with my family and relatives in north Jersey for dinner. We opened our Christmas gifts and did not even wait until midnight because we all were getting tired and wanted to head back home at a decent time. Every year, we have this tradition of driving into the city on Christmas morning to attend a Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It is always packed with people so we try to get there early to find seats for ourselves. Now you might be thinking, what else do we do there since many places are closed for the holidays. The great thing about that is that it is not difficult to find parking so we do not have to do too much walking. Well even though most stores are closed, after church we always walk a couple blocks to eat at a restaurant called Joe’s Shanghai which opens just in time for an early lunch because we are hungry. They have one of the best xiao long bao (soup dumplings). I need someone to teach me how to make these. What is the secret to keeping the dumpling thin yet be able to hold the soup inside? I do not think I will ever get tired of going there at least once a year. Hope those of you who celebrate had a great Christmas! Did you guys enjoy your Christmas? Get anything on your wishlist? Please feel free to reply or comment below and I will do the same back!

What I Am Wearing: I am so excited to share this collaboration with Femme Luxe. Tis the perfect season for sweater dresses and this mustard knit one is my favorites! I wore this on Christmas Day while we were out in the city. I am still surprised by the quality of some of their pieces because they are better than I expected. It is so comfortable and easy to slip on yet still breathes so you do not get too hot in it. The only downside is that it is tight when trying to wear a jacket or coat on top of it because it is so thick. I admit that I had a hard time finding one to wear so this outfit would be better on a warmer day when a coat is not needed. However, this is a perfect example on how to style a pair of thigh high boots. It lets you get away with not wearing pants on a chilly day, especially if you are petite (one of the perks of being short). I did wear a pair of shorts underneath in case I flashed someone though. I have had these boots for several years now but they are still going strong and have been through bad weather and rough terrain. If you do not want to style this outfit with tights like myself, you could always throw on a pair of leggings instead.

This reminds me of when I was in high school and I always wore tights with a pair of shorts. I hated wearing pants and I still dislike them to this day but not as much. It was the apparent trend back then. I ended owning like more than twenty pairs of shorts and then when the trend died, I did not know what to do with all them. I did give away some but there are others I can not seem to part from even though I never wear them. I start to think to myself, if the trend comes back, I will be happy to have kept them but I doubt I will wear them when I am older. Sigh.

Stay tuned for more styled outfits again soon! I think I can squeeze in one more look before the year ends. I am attempting to end the year on a good note with my increase in activity on the blog and I look forward to seeing what is in store for 2019.
