♔ Review
Hotel Monterey Kyoto is a lovely hotel that combines a European vibe with Kyoto's culture. When I first checked into the hotel, there was a slight problem because I make a reservation with Hotels.com for 3 people but the hotel had my friends and I reserved as 2 people. Therefore, the hotel had to charge us for an extra person when I had already paid. It caused a bit of stress but luckily I was able to get in contact with a representative from Hotels.com and they were able to reimburse me for the extra charge. After that, everything else went smoothly. A cot was added to our room, making it a tad cramped but it is expected because hotel rooms in Japan are fairly small due to limited space. The room was decorated in striped patterns and one window by the corner. What I like most about this hotel is that it is right in the middle of the attractions of central Kyoto. If you head south, you will find the Nishiki Market and north, you will see the Nijo Castle and the Imperial Palace.
