[closed] Louis Moinet Memoris Chronograph Watch

Watches are not only stylish pieces, but memorable pieces that may be passed on for generations. I learned this from my mother as her father, my grandfather, passed it on to her sibling. She told me that living in a family of five children, my grandfather worked hard to support everyone. One day, he saved enough money to treat himself and bought a watch that remains a classic 'til this day. It is ironic that a watch can be timeless yet can tell us time simultaneously. Watches hold value greater than what the watch is worth. If it is taken care of, watches can hold memories of the past, tell us how much we have grown, and connect us to the ones we love.

Louis Moinet is a watch brand named after the watchmaker who was an inventor of his time. Moinet was a modest man who was passionate about his work and shared his knowledge with others. During the 19th century, Moinet came up with a brilliant idea which turned out to be the first time a watch was created to not only tell time but also record time; similar to a stopwatch. This invention is known as a chronograph. The chronograph will be celebrating its 200th anniversary, which is why I wanted to share this post with you all. Shown above is Memoris, the first chronograph-watch. Its beautiful design and function are unique to Louis Moinet and is made available in 18k pink gold. The Memoris features a monopusher chronograph with column wheel and chronograph mechanism visible on the dial, along with a 60-second chronograph and 30-minute chronograph counter.

As much as I enjoy style and fashion as a hobby, I realize how important it is to have some background knowledge in the pieces we wear. It is essential to understand how different inventions or pieces came to existence just as how my grandfather's watch had a story behind it. Fashion is not just about the aesthetics, it is also about what each individual pieces means to you. Do you own a watch with sentimental value?
