3 Easy Treatments for Colored Hair

I like to color my hair several times a year because I tend to get bored of my natural hair color and need to touch it up throughout the year. Do not get me wrong, sticking with your original hair color is great too! My natural hair color is a very dark brown but I prefer to dye my hair in lighter shades of brown. I find that it suits my face and skin tone better.

I usually purchase the Garniere Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme because it has been my go-to hair coloring brand for years and it has given me great results. Since I have long hair, I have to buy two boxes and will have my mother treat my hair but it is still much cheaper than having it done at the salon. When you have long and thick hair, there is no way I could do it own my own because it is so easy to miss sections of hair. I would definitely recommend having a friend or family member who knows how to color hair to do it for you if you have hair like mine.

When I want to get something done to my hair that is more complicated, then of course I always opt for going to a hair salon. They are the experts and know how to get it done right.

That is why I was so excited to use the Biolage RAW Color Care products. Dyeing hair involves a lot of harsh chemicals and so I want to be able to treat my hair with products that are purposely for colored hair. I gave the Biolage RAW Color Care products a few tries and washes so I could truly see how well they work before making this post. RAW stands for Real, Authentic, and Wholesome. They claim that their products are 98% of natural origin, 93% biodegradable, no silicones,  95% recycled plastic bottle, no parabens, no artificial colorants, and vegan formula. Therefore, I like the fact that their products are made with a more natural formula than with a ton of unknown chemicals. They come in these nice purple bottles while the product itself comes out white and opaque. They have a floral/powdery smell, which I am not a huge fan of but it is tolerable.

I first tried the Biolage RAW Color Care Shampoo and my first though was that it does not lather as well as I would like. It makes you think that you need to add more shampoo in your hair, and so I ended up adding a little more. After I rinsed the shampoo off, I went for the Biolage RAW Color Care Conditioner. It is not as slippery compared to other conditioners I have used so it took a bit more time to brush through my tangles. Then, I let the conditioner sit a few minutes before rinsing it off.

I was disappointed with the products because my hair felt more dry and tangled than it did before using the products. Maybe I just need to use it a couple more times because my hair is not used to it since I have been using the same hair products for a long time. It is recommended that you change hair products at least every 6 months, which I do not do. It just did not meet my expectations.

There is one more Biolage RAW product I want to share. Before I blow dry or straighten my hair with a flat iron in the morning (which does not happen often because I tend to prioritize breakfast), I started using the Biolage RAW Heat Styling Primer when my hair is still damp. However, I prefer to shower at night and let my hair air dry so I feel fresh and clean before heading to bed. Since my hair is dry by morning, I will just lightly dampen it with water while getting ready for work, apply the primer with my hands, and then straighten my hair after a minute or two. The second option is to use the primer when I have time to shower, blow dry, and straighten my hair in the morning.

Of all the Biolage RAW products, I enjoyed using the heat styling primer the most. It does not leave my hair feeling stick at all and helps protect my hair from the extreme heat.

I would like to thank Influenster and Biolage for letting me test the RAW products!

Please note: I received these products complimentary through Influenster in exchange for my review and personal opinion. #LiveRAW
